Prayer for Illumination (1) | Second Sunday in Easter (Year C)

Submitted by Stephen Fearing.

Resurrected God,
though we have hidden ourselves in a locked room
and huddled together as ones who build barriers,
send your Living Word through our locked doors
and into our guarded hearts
that we might be witnesses of your grace
and couriers of your goodness.
By the power of your Holy Spirit,
grant us the trust to believe the Gospel
not because we see it
but because we have been seen by it
and transformed through it. Amen.

Prayer for Illumination (2) | Easter Sunday (Year C)

The following prayer for illumination is by Scott Cervas via LiturgyLink.Net.

Holy God,
remove the stones that block the portals of our minds…
shine your light so that it may take over the darkness within…
and fill our thoughts with your perfect vision for creation
so we may go, and tell, and be, and do.
Amen.

Prayer for Illumination | Palm/Passion Sunday (Year C)

The following Prayer for Illumination is by Scott Cervas, submitted via LiturgyLink.

Holy God,
in the midst of the loud “Hosannas!”,
as the waving palm leaves rustle in unison,
quiet our pre-conceived notions…
and hush our sure grasp of your truth…
so that we may, perhaps, discover something
about your vision…your hope…your purpose for our life…
that changes the way we think, act, and do.
Amen.

Prayer for Illumination (1) | Easter Sunday (Year C)

From Feasting on the Word – Worship Companion, edited by Kimberly Bracken Long.

Living God, by your Holy Spirit,
open our eyes to see the new light of this day;
open our lips to tell of the empty tomb;
open our hearts to believe the good news;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for Illumination | Fourth Sunday in Lent (Year C)

Gracious God,
by the presence of your Holy Spirit,
bless this our proclamation of your Word
that we may receive the gift of your grace
and share it with those who we will meet
on this journey to which we are called.
Speak to us this day for we,
your servants, are listening. Amen.

Prayer for Illumination | Third Sunday in Lent (Year C)

Come, Holy Spirit, into this place
    for you are welcome here.
In this dry and barren wilderness of Lent,
    we thirst for your presence
    and eagerly await your illumination.
May our hearts be ablaze
    and our ears ever attuned
    to listen for your Word.
Come, Holy Spirit…
    Come, Holy Spirit…
        Come, Holy Spirit…
you are welcome in this place.
